Anastasia Beverly Hills Artist Palette Review + Swatches
The most recent palette release from Anastasia Beverly Hills is the Artist Palette. This Summer 2015 palette was refreshing to see among all the matte neutral palettes being released alongside it. The first thing that drew me towards it was the packaging, which is much more vibrant than their previous releases. It is the same size as the other palettes, with a magnetic closure. I love that the brand has continued with this same size because it makes them easy to store together, and also keeps them at the lower price-point of $30.
The palette includes 12 different eye shadow shades, solid mix of matte and shimmery shades.
- Dusty Rose (matte mauve)
- Augergine (velvet eggplant)
- Anaconda (shimmery green)
- Punch Fuschia (velvet bright purple)
- Buttery (velvet soft yellow)
- Blue Velvet (velvet navy)
- Coal (matte black)
- Unicorn (shimmery perriwinkle)
- Phresh (matte bright yellow)
- Baby I’m a Star (sparkling brown)
- Orange You Fancy (shimmery orange)
- Beigely (shimmery grey)
- Eye shadow brush
Anastasia Beverly Hills palettes always include a light beige shade (in this palette – Buttery) and a black shade (in this palette – Coal), leaving them with 10 pans to play with. Various shades from neutrals to pops of color were included, the most impressive being Phresh, a matte bright yellow. The color isn’t something you would normally expect from an Anastasia Beverly Hills palette but needless to say, I was super excited to see it because this is a summer palette.
The swatches below are with no primer and with one swipe of color. Buttery failed to show up on my skin because yes I am that pale!
Check out my first impressions video for my first thoughts on this palette:
Since the above video, I have been using these palette very frequently. I definitely stand by my comment of this being my favorite Anastasia Beverly Hills palette so far.
My go-to colors in this palette are Dusty Rose, Aubergine, Baby I’m a Star, Orange You Fancy and Beigely. I really enjoy the brightness of Phresh. I truly have no other color in my collection like it. To get the full effect it’s best to layer it onto a white base. I like using NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk for this.
Unicorn and Punch Fuschia continued to disappoint. They are buildable, but compared to the usual quality of most Anastasia Beverly Hills eye shadows, they fall flat. I haven’t found a good dupe for the unicorn shade but Urban Decay’s Jilted is a much better result than Punch Fuschia.
OH and by the way…
