Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow Palettes | A Closer Look

IMG_0237IMG_0234

A few months ago, Make Up For Ever released two limited edition nine eyeshadow palettes: Volume 1 – Nudes and Volume 2 – Artistic. Each palette retails for $42 and can exclusively be found at Sephora. Here’s a closer look at each palette.

Make Up For Ever Artist Palette Volume 1 – Nudes

A collectible, eye shadow palette with nine must-have Artist Shadow formulas in neutral tones.

This palette features the coveted, easy-to-use Artist Shadow formula for endless eye looks—ranging from beautifully natural to highly artistic. With its advanced gel-powder formula blended with ultrafine pigments, each nude shade leaves a smooth, even finish that leaves lids ultra-saturated with highly-blendable, lasting color. The shades are organized in trios so you can effortlessly create chic, natural, and smoky looks. This palette includes an illustrated, step-by-step application techniques by MAKE UP FOR EVER’s founder and creative director, Dany Sanz, to help you sweep on a number of eye-catching looks.

Artist Palette Volume 1 – Nudes Swatches

While the shades looked similar in the pan, upon watching you can see that each shade is distinctive and shows up nicely even on my skin tone. All the shades are beautiful, but I have to say this is the most pigmented matte black shadow in any of the most recent palette releases. I’d recommend this palette to anyone interested in trying out Make Up For Ever shadows at a discounted price and to anyone that is in need of a versatile neutral palette.

Make Up For Ever Artist Palette Volume 2 – Artistic

A collectible, eye shadow palette with nine must-have Artist Shadow formulas in neutrals and bright pops of color.

This palette features the coveted, easy-to-use Artist Shadow formula for endless eye looks—ranging from beautifully natural to highly artistic. With its advanced gel-powder formula blended with ultrafine pigments, each shade leaves a smooth, even finish that leaves lids ultra-saturated with highly-blendable, lasting color. The shades are organized in trios so you can effortlessly create playful, bold, and sultry looks. This palette includes an illustrated, step-by-step application techniques by MAKE UP FOR EVER’s founder and creative director, Dany Sanz, to help you sweep on a number of artist-inspired eye looks.

Artist Palette Volume 2 – Artistic Swatches

What I enjoyed most about the Artistic palette was the fact that neutral shades were included with the pops of color. This makes the palette wearable on it’s own, instead of having to dip into other palettes. My favorite shades in this palette are turquoise blue and peacock. I’d recommend this palette to anyone interested in trying out Make Up For Ever shadows at a discounted price and anyone that loves funky colors in their eyeshadow collection.

All the swatches together

Here’s my first impressions video, feel free to check it out if you want to see live swatches:

Since my first impressions video, I’ve been using these palettes ALL THE TIME. The colors are so pigmented and really easy to work with. I use the palettes together a lot, so I’d have a hard time recommending just one. While they are pricey at $42, the cost of a single Make Up For Ever shadow is $21. Essentially, you are getting nine (almost full-size) shadows for the price of two. I look forward to palettes like these because I hate paying $20+ for a single shadow and I HATE single shadows. I never reach for them. I just find them annoying. LOL.

These palettes are limited edition so if you want them, now’s the time to get them. You can pick up Volume 1 and/or Volume 2 online or in-store at Sephora.

What are your thoughts on these palettes? Did you buy them?

Still wondering if Volume 1 is worth it! I think it’s absolutely beautiful, and it’s all of the colors I gravitate towards!

I think either palette is totally worth it. If you do decide to get it, wait for Sephora’s Beauty Insider Appreciation Week which is August 2 – August 9. If you buy it then you get 2X points if you’re a Beauty Insider, 3X points if you’re a VIB and 4X points if you’re VIB Rouge. 🙂

I have the neutral palette and they are some of the best shades and quality of all the neutral palettes I own. Have been considering the second one as well now that I have experienced the quality.

Of course I love the Nude palette. I love all nude palettes lol. I like how diverse the Artist palette is, definitely not colors I could rock every day but they are gorgeous shades.
